Who are We

We started with a simple idea: what if craft wasn’t just something you did at home, but something you did together?

In a world that moves quickly and lives mostly on screens, we wanted to create space for slowing down, for sitting side by side, getting our hands moving, and letting conversation unfold naturally. Craft is the thread that brings us together, but connection is always the real reason we gather.

Our events are built around that feeling: welcoming, relaxed, and open to everyone. You don’t need to be “good” at crafting. You don’t need to know anyone. You don’t even need to know exactly what you’re doing. You just need to show up.

We believe in:

  • Process over perfection

  • Conversation over comparison

  • Community over competition

Whether we’re around a table, in a cosy venue, or crafting in a cinema with the lights gently on, the heart of what we do stays the same, creating spaces where people feel comfortable, included, and a little less alone.

Meet the person behind Create & Make

Hi, I’m Mala, the founder of Create & Make! The idea started with a small group of us who all loved crafting and simply wanted to do it together. In March 2025, we started getting together, a handful of people, a few projects and lots of craft chat. What started small has grown into something much bigger, and I think that’s because there’s something really special about being creative together. It’s not just about what you make, but the conversations, encouragement, inspiration and friendships that happen along the way.

Crafting has been a huge part of my life since leaving university. I started with knitting and crochet, moved into painting and these days, sewing has well and truly taken over! My crafts might have changed over the years, but my love for making things (and making them alongside other people) hasn’t. What I love most is the support, friendship, uplifting energy and endless inspiration that comes from being part of a creative community. It’s having somewhere you can turn up as you are, bring whatever you’re working on (finished or very much not finished!) and spend some time doing something that makes you happy.

Create & Make grew from wanting to share that feeling with more people. I want to create a community where you can find your crafty people, try something new, be inspired, have a laugh, make genuine connections and, most importantly, have a little time that’s just for you. Whether you’re here to join a club, try a workshop, take part in a creative event or simply meet some lovely like-minded people, you’re very welcome here.
